Montessori and Waldorf-Inspired Schools in Las Vegas: A Local Guide for Families
Thinking about moving to Las Vegas and looking for schooling options outside the traditional public-school model?
If Montessori or Waldorf-style education is important to your family, Las Vegas does have options, but they are not evenly distributed throughout the valley. Where you choose to live can make a noticeable difference in your daily school commute.
This guide breaks down several current Montessori schools in the Las Vegas Valley, the area's Waldorf-inspired option, and what relocating families should consider before choosing a neighborhood.
Quick Answer: Are There Montessori and Waldorf Schools in Las Vegas?
Yes, the Las Vegas Valley has several Montessori schools serving children across a wide range of ages.
The American Montessori Society describes Montessori education as a child-centered approach developed by Dr. Maria Montessori that commonly incorporates hands-on materials, individualized learning, mixed-age environments and opportunities for children to develop independence.
Waldorf education has a much smaller local presence. Mojave Springs School in Las Vegas describes itself as an early childhood school inspired by the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner and Waldorf education. Families specifically seeking an AWSNA-listed Waldorf school should verify current school status and affiliations directly with the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America.
Because these schools are located in different parts of the Las Vegas Valley, it makes sense to consider schooling and housing together rather than choosing a home first and figuring out the commute later.
Who This Guide Is For
This guide may be helpful if you're:
- Relocating to Las Vegas, Henderson or North Las Vegas
- Moving from California or another state and looking for alternative education
- Specifically interested in Montessori education
- Interested in Waldorf-inspired early childhood education
- Comparing private-school options before deciding where to live
- Trying to balance housing costs, commute time and school choice
The school itself should always be evaluated independently. My role as a real estate professional is to help you understand how a particular school location could affect your housing search, commute and overall relocation plan.
Why School Choice Can Affect Where You Live in Las Vegas
Las Vegas is geographically spread out.
A school that looks relatively close on a map may still create a longer morning or afternoon commute depending on traffic, freeway access and where you live.
That becomes especially important with private schools because you're generally not choosing your home based on a traditional public-school attendance boundary. Instead, you may have much more flexibility in where you live, but transportation becomes your responsibility.
Before narrowing your home search around a school, confirm:
- The school's current location
- The grades or ages it serves
- Admissions requirements
- Current availability
- Tuition and fees
- Before- and after-school programs
- Transportation policies
- Whether the school's educational philosophy matches what you're actually looking for
School programs, enrollment and availability can change, so verify these details directly with the school before making a housing decision.
Montessori Schools in the Las Vegas Valley
Las Vegas has a number of schools that identify themselves as Montessori or Montessori-based. They don't all serve the same age groups, and their programs can differ considerably.
Here are several current options worth researching.
Foothills Montessori School in Henderson
Foothills Montessori School is located at 1401 Amador Lane in Henderson.
The American Montessori Society currently lists Foothills as a private Montessori school serving students approximately ages 3 through 14. The school offers Primary, Elementary and Middle School programs, along with options such as Spanish immersion, extended care and after-school programming.

What This Means for Your Home Search
For buyers who have already selected Foothills as a serious school option, looking in Henderson can simplify the daily commute.
Instead of starting with a list of neighborhoods someone else considers "best," I recommend working backward from the school.
Enter the school address into your preferred mapping app, test several communities you're considering and compare the drive during actual drop-off and pickup times.
A house that is five miles away is not necessarily more convenient than one seven or eight miles away if the second property has better road or freeway access.
Montessori Visions Academy
Montessori Visions Academy operates two Las Vegas campuses.
Its Sunset Campus is at 3551 E. Sunset Road and serves children from approximately six weeks through age six. Its Warm Springs Campus is at 1905 E. Warm Springs Road and serves students from approximately 15 months through high school.
The school's curriculum describes multi-age classrooms and Montessori learning areas including Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics and Cultural studies.

What This Means for Your Home Search
These campuses are in the south-central portion of the Las Vegas Valley, so they may create a different housing search than a Montessori school located in Henderson or west Las Vegas.
If Montessori Visions is high on your list, I would first determine which campus your child would attend and then build your home-search radius around that specific campus.
Spring Valley Montessori School
Spring Valley Montessori School is another Las Vegas Montessori option.
The school states that it has operated since 2004 and is licensed to teach students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Its published program information describes a Montessori-based curriculum and lists Kindergarten, Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary programs.
Because published grade and program information can occasionally differ depending on the source or school year, parents should confirm the currently available grades directly with the school before applying.

This school can be worth investigating for buyers already considering the Spring Valley and west-central Las Vegas area.
Again, don't choose a neighborhood based solely on its name or its straight-line distance from the school. Test the actual route from properties you're considering.
SpringStone Montessori School
SpringStone Montessori School operates two Las Vegas locations:
- 2750 Lake Sahara Drive
- 7373 Montessouri Street
The school describes itself as providing Montessori-based early childhood education and currently serves children from infancy through approximately age six. Its Las Vegas locations also offer extended daily hours.
SpringStone is therefore primarily an option for families with younger children rather than a long-term elementary-through-high-school solution.

The two campuses are located in different parts of west and southwest Las Vegas.
If you're interested in SpringStone, make sure you know which campus has the program and enrollment availability you need before deciding which homes make sense geographically.
Waldorf-Inspired Education in Las Vegas
Waldorf-style education is much less common in Southern Nevada than Montessori education.
Mojave Springs School
Mojave Springs School is a Las Vegas early childhood school that describes its program as inspired by the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner and Waldorf education.
Its early childhood approach emphasizes imitation, imaginative play and a developmental rhythm associated with Waldorf educational philosophy.
An important distinction is that families should not automatically assume that "Waldorf-inspired" and membership or recognition by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America are the same thing.
If formal Waldorf affiliation is important to you, check the current Association of Waldorf Schools of North America directory directly.

What This Means for Your Home Search
Because Waldorf-inspired options are more limited locally, families committed to this educational philosophy may need to give school location greater weight in their housing search.
Before making a real estate decision around a particular school, confirm enrollment, age eligibility and the school's current location directly with the school.
Montessori vs. Waldorf: What's the Difference?
Although both approaches may look different from conventional classroom education, Montessori and Waldorf are not interchangeable.
Montessori
Montessori education generally emphasizes:
- Hands-on learning materials
- Independence
- Self-directed activity
- Individual pacing
- Mixed-age learning environments
- Practical-life skills
- A carefully prepared classroom environment
Waldorf
Waldorf education traditionally places greater emphasis on:
- Imagination
- Storytelling
- Creative play
- Art
- Music
- Movement
- Rhythm and routine
- Developmental stages of childhood
Neither philosophy is automatically "better." They are different approaches, and the right fit depends heavily on the individual child and what the parents value in an educational environment.
Don't Assume Every School Using "Montessori" Is the Same
This is an important point.
Montessori terminology is used by many schools, but programs can differ in how closely they follow established Montessori practices.
The American Montessori Society maintains a school directory and also has separate standards for AMS accreditation. Being an AMS member school and being an AMS-accredited school are not necessarily the same thing.
If Montessori fidelity matters to you, ask the school questions such as:
- Are you affiliated with AMS or AMI?
- Are you accredited?
- What Montessori credentials do your lead teachers hold?
- Are classrooms mixed-age?
- How long are uninterrupted work periods?
- How much of the curriculum uses traditional Montessori materials?
- How does the program change as children get older?
The name on the building shouldn't be your only deciding factor.
What About Public School Choice in Las Vegas?
Families relocating to Las Vegas should also understand that choosing between schools isn't limited to private Montessori or Waldorf-inspired programs.
Clark County School District operates attendance-zone schools, but CCSD also has an Open Enrollment process that allows families to apply to eligible schools outside their assigned attendance area when seats are available.
For the 2026-2027 school year, CCSD identifies eligible schools and allows families to apply through its Open Enrollment process.
Learn more about CCSD Open Enrollment
That means your school research may include:
- Your assigned CCSD school
- CCSD Open Enrollment
- Magnet programs
- Charter schools
- Private schools
- Montessori schools
- Other specialized educational programs
Don't assume buying in one neighborhood permanently limits you to only one educational option.
What Relocating Families Should Consider Before Choosing a Home
If a particular school is important to your move, here are several things I recommend doing before writing an offer on a house.
1. Tour the School First
A website can tell you about curriculum and programs.
It can't tell you how the school actually feels.
If possible, visit the campus, meet the staff, see the classroom environment and ask detailed questions about how the program operates.
2. Confirm Enrollment Before Buying Around the School
Never assume your child will automatically have a seat.
Private-school admissions, class availability and waitlists can change.
If a particular school is one of the main reasons you're considering an area, confirm the admissions situation directly with the school.
3. Test the Commute at the Right Time
Don't rely on Saturday afternoon traffic.
Test the drive around the same time you would actually be dropping your child off or picking them up.
A commute that looks easy on a map can feel very different during the school-week rush.
4. Look Beyond the School
Your home still has to work for the rest of your life.
Consider:
- Purchase price
- Property taxes
- HOA fees
- Home size
- Lot size
- Work commute
- Access to shopping and services
- Parks and recreation
- Airport access
- Distance from friends or relatives
- Your long-term plans for the property
The goal isn't simply to live as close to the school as possible. It's to find a location that works for the entire household.
5. Think Several Years Ahead
An early childhood school may be perfect today but stop serving your child a few years from now.
Before buying specifically because of a school, find out how far its programs extend.
You may decide that moving once your child reaches elementary or middle school is fine. Or you may prefer a school with a longer educational path.
Either way, it's better to know before you buy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are there Montessori schools in Las Vegas?
Yes. Current examples include Foothills Montessori School in Henderson, Montessori Visions Academy, Spring Valley Montessori School and SpringStone Montessori School. Their age ranges and programs differ, so families should research each school individually.
Is there a Waldorf school in Las Vegas?
Mojave Springs School currently describes itself as a Las Vegas early childhood program inspired by Rudolf Steiner and Waldorf education. Families specifically seeking an AWSNA-listed Waldorf school should check the current AWSNA directory rather than assuming that a Waldorf-inspired program has the same affiliation or status.
How much does Montessori school cost in Las Vegas?
Tuition varies substantially based on the school, child's age, number of days attended, program level and whether additional care is included.
Because tuition changes, I recommend getting the current tuition schedule directly from each school rather than relying on a valley-wide estimate.
Do Montessori schools have before- and after-school care?
Some do. Programs, schedules and additional fees vary by school, so confirm current extended-care options directly with each school.
Do I have to live in a certain neighborhood to attend a private Montessori school?
Private-school enrollment generally isn't determined by a CCSD attendance boundary in the same way as your assigned public school.
However, admission requirements, enrollment capacity and transportation are separate issues, so confirm the school's policies directly.
Can I choose a CCSD school outside my neighborhood?
Potentially.
CCSD's Open Enrollment program allows families to apply to participating schools with available capacity. Eligibility and availability vary by school and school year.
Should I choose my school or my house first?
If a particular school is non-negotiable, I would research the school first.
Confirm that the program fits your child and that enrollment is realistically available. Then we can look at housing options within commute ranges you're comfortable with.
If you're still comparing schools, we can take the opposite approach: identify several areas that fit your housing needs and then evaluate the educational options accessible from each one.
Making the School and Home Search Work Together
When you're relocating to Las Vegas, it can be tempting to search for "the best neighborhood" or "the best school."
I don't think that's the most useful way to approach it.
The better question is:
Which combination of school, home, location, commute and cost makes the most sense for your household?
A school that works perfectly for one child may not be the right environment for another. The same is true of neighborhoods and homes.
If you're moving to Las Vegas, Henderson or North Las Vegas and school location is an important part of your decision, I can help you map out the housing side of the equation.
We can look at where the schools you're considering are located, establish a realistic commute radius and then compare homes that meet your budget and other priorities.
That way, you're not choosing a house in isolation and discovering afterward that your preferred school is on the other side of the valley.
